S1 Ep7: Life of an Embroidery Artist

Melissa Galbraith is the fiber artist behind MCreativeJ. She was born and raised in the desert of Washington state, where her mother instilled a love of making things by hand at an early age. Melissa enjoys making physical works of art, playing with colors, and creating texture. She draws inspiration from the desert and plants to create whimsical and modern fiber art. Melissa loves sharing her skills with others through Pattern Club, her monthly digital pattern subscription and both online and in-person workshops!

We started off chatting about where she gained inspiration from and learning more about how she began embroidery. I was always so fascinated with her photos, designs, colors, and flatlays so it was so neat to hear the creative process! She shared apps she utilizes for her social media, one being A Color Story, and how it has aided her in her brand. One thing I loved most about our chat was talking about how she prices herself as an artist. Don’t forget your value and really take into consideration each little thing that you do!

At the end of the call once we stopped recording, we were chatting how it was so nice to be inspired by other creatives. She said she had been in meetings all day so it was nice to have something to re-energize her! I’m so impressed and thankful for the time Melissa shared with me. Go show her some love!
